Listen for when an inner voice speaks to us. See how nature broadens our horizon. Go a part of the way: “VIA NOVA” carries the subheading “Guidance for the 21st century” and is dedicated to the ritual of creation.
The main focus is on respect, mindfulness, happiness, creativity as well as justice and compassion. An approach that particularly becomes clear in the case of hikes that are led by a spiritual guide.
In the Passau Land region, there are several hiking route options:
Coming from Metten, you can go on a pilgrimage over Vilshofen an der Donau and the Bavarian Donautal & Klosterwinkel regions travelling either to Passau and from there, further on to Hausruck in Upper Austria heading towards the Salzburg lake district. Or, you can choose the route over Rottal where you will also cross the border into Austria at the town of Ering. In addition to beautiful things that can be seen in the countryside, the Bavarian Donautal & Klosterwinkel region is home to nationally renowned treasures. These include the Aldersbach abbey with the most beautiful Church of Our Lady in all of Bavaria, the Fürstenzell abbey, as well as the pilgrimage churches in Sammarei and Grongörgen.
By the way, the impressive stone seats made from granite around the Aldersbach monastery church originated during the course of a sculptor symposium held in 2008.
Since 2011, there has been a further leg of the route “VIA NOVA – from the Danube to the Bohemian Forest”, that goes from Vilshofen an der Donau over Ilztal & Dreiburgenland to Freyung and through Mauth to the city of Pribram in the Czech Republic.
