“If you want to live, you have to weave.” That was life’s motto in the Wegscheid Land region in the days of old.
In the Museum of Weaving, you can experience the beginnings of the famous Wegscheid linen.
Each year, two museum festivals take place here: on the first Sunday in August, the festival “From Flax to Linen” (“Vom Flachs zum Leinen”) and on the first Sunday in September the Threshing Festival (“Drescherfest”).
And even today, the weaving is still part of life in the region. In the Handweberei Moser, the oldest weaving mill in Germany, modern and contemporary table linen and other material is manufactured; the family Lichtenauer on the Peterhof has been weaving rag rugs and sheepskin rugs for 150 years.
